HOMANITY
A Space Gallery, Venice
In parallel with the Venice Architecture Biennale 2025
HOMANITY is a long-term interdisciplinary project developed by A Space Gallery in Venice, exploring the evolving concept of home as both a physical and emotional space. Initiated during the Venice Architecture Biennale 2025, HOMANITY is a living, expanding artistic platform that brings together artists, architects, and thinkers from around the world to reflect on what it means to belong — to a space, a self, a society.
The name HOMANITY is a neologism — a fusion of:
-
HOME + HUMANITY – Home as a shared human need and a space of connection.
-
HOME + IDENTITY – Home as a reflection of our inner world and sense of self.
-
HOME + ENTITY – Home as a fluid, ever-transforming structure, never final, always becoming.
In a time marked by housing crises, mass migration, disconnection, and rapid urban transformation, HOMANITY asks:
Where do we belong? What defines a home today? Can home be a feeling, a process, a choice?
This project is not a single exhibition, but an organic, evolving space of thought and form. New exhibitions, installations, performances, and public programs are presented throughout the duration of the Biennale. Each contribution becomes part of a wider dialogue — shaped by the shared experience of searching, remembering, and redefining what home truly means.
HOMANITY is both collective and deeply personal. It is a ritual of grounding, a process of inner and outer rooting, a manifestation of presence in the world.

Can I apply with a collective or team? Yes. Collaborative projects and collectives are welcome. Please mention this clearly in your application form.
Do I need to be present during my exhibition? It is not mandatory. However, your presence is encouraged, especially for opening events. Organizational support can be provided for an extra fee (€1000 per week)
Is there a curatorial selection process? Yes. All proposals are reviewed based on artistic quality and relevance to the theme of HOMANITY. In the case of high interest, selection will also depend on the order of submissions.
What does the €100 application fee cover? It covers administrative and curatorial review costs. This fee is non-refundable.
Why is there a participation fee for exhibitions? The participation fee is a partial contribution to the real costs of organizing the exhibition – covering gallery space, curatorial support, logistics, administration, and the creation of a professional setting during the Venice Architecture Biennale. This model enables access for independent artists without relying on commercial gallery representation. Every submission is evaluated based on artistic merit and relevance to the HOMANITY concept. Payment does not guarantee selection.
Can I sell artworks during the exhibition? Yes. If the artist handles the sale independently, no commission is taken by the gallery. However, if the gallery facilitates or finalizes the sale on behalf of the artist (e.g. during collective exhibitions or through direct inquiry), a 40% commission will apply to cover the cost of promotion, presentation, and mediation. This helps support the sustainability of the project.
Are the artworks insured? Artists are responsible for insuring their own artworks during transportation, exhibition, and storage. While we do our best to provide a secure environment, HOMANITY does not assume responsibility for any damage, theft, or loss. We recommend arranging individual or group insurance policies for the duration of the exhibition.
If I apply and get accepted, can I choose the exact exhibition dates? Yes – accepted artists will be invited to choose from available dates, within the timeframe of the project. We recommend applying early, as available slots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Who installs the exhibition? Artists are responsible for installing and dismantling their exhibitions. The gallery provides technical guidance and, upon request, can offer installation support for an additional fee. In collective exhibitions, the gallery curates and arranges the works with respect to the overall narrative.
