MINORIA: First Spiral

MINORIA: First Spiral (Chapter II) continues MINORIA as a curatorial process unfolding in chapters—each chapter testing how form gains “weight” and visibility. The project begins from a reversal of perceptual hierarchy: instead of treating the finished form as primary, MINORIA focuses on the conditions that allow form to emerge. Threshold, suspension, and indeterminacy are understood not as lack, but as generative states—where attention is tuned before meaning settles.

Following MINORIA: First Trace—a minimal gesture at the entrance where space was cleared and interpretation deliberately postponed—First Spiral introduces the first legible diagram of emergence. Composed from collected shells, the spiral functions as a material trace rather than a discrete object. The work does not “represent” a concept; it activates a situation. Found matter is selected, placed, and held in relation, allowing structure to appear without becoming a closed statement.

Installed at the threshold of A Space Gallery in Venice, the chapter frames the venue itself as a site of passage—between street and interior, movement and pause, presence and formation. Venice is not treated as a backdrop but as a condition: a city formed by water, reflection, and layered time. In this context, the shell becomes a carrier of duration and displacement—something shaped by erosion and travel, yet capable of being re-situated within a deliberate order. The spiral makes this re-situation visible: it gathers fragments into a coherent figure while preserving the fact of their origin as found, not fabricated.

What emerges in First Spiral is a quiet but precise claim: form can be understood as a consequence of attention. The chapter proposes an exhibition as an instrument of perception—a calibrated arrangement in which visibility is produced through relation, rhythm, and placement. Meaning is not imposed; it is made possible.
