Following the initial conceptual phase of HOMANITY, this second phase explores the theme of home through the perspective of architecture and design. HOMANITY: Home as a Process introduces the work of architecture students from the University of Zielona Góra, under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Marta Skiba, Dr. Alicja Maciejko and Dr. Mirosław Strzelecki. Their designs for modular homes challenge traditional notions of architecture by integrating the emotional, psychological, and relational dimensions of dwelling.
In this phase, the concept of home is presented as an ongoing process rather than a fixed entity. The modular homes designed by the students are not just architectural structures, but dynamic, adaptable spaces that respond to the ever-changing needs of their inhabitants. These homes reflect the principles of relational architecture, where spaces are created with the intention of fostering emotional well-being and community.
The exhibition presents these modular homes as part of the broader HOMANITY project, continuing the exploration of home as a space of rootedness, belonging, and identity. While the first phase of the project focused on conceptualizing home, this second phase introduces tangible, real-world solutions that seek to address contemporary housing challenges. The student-designed homes are a visual and architectural representation of the process of home-building, where physical space meets emotional connection.
By combining art, architecture, and social thought, HOMANITY: Home as a Process encourages visitors to reflect on the future of home. What does it mean to create a space that responds to both human and environmental needs? Can we design homes that are not only functional but also relational, adaptive, and sustainable? The exhibition challenges traditional ideas of home as a static structure and invites us to imagine a future where home is a dynamic, evolving process of care, connection, and belonging.
